What Moves the Price
Why Two Stairlift Quotes Can Be Thousands Apart
Four things account for most of the difference between one quote and another:
- Straight or curved. A straight rail is a stock length cut to fit. A curved rail is manufactured to your staircase and cannot be reused anywhere else, which is the single biggest jump in price.
- How long the run is. More stairs means more rail. A tall flight in an older two-story home costs more than a short one.
- Indoors or outdoors. Outdoor lifts use sealed, weatherproof components and a cover — necessary anywhere the salt air reaches, which on this coast is most places.
- Options. Powered swivel seats, powered footrests, extra remotes and folding rails at the bottom of the stairs each add to the total.
